Valerie:
I am honored to run the Boston Marathon on behalf of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute because my family, like so many others, has been touched by cancer.

In 2005, my Aunt Norma succumbed to colon cancer. She was my dad's youngest sister, a mother of four daughters and one son, and a light in our lives. She was the funny one. I believe I inherited her sense of humor, as Aunt Norma was always the life of the party. I remember a trip to Las Vegas a few years ago when Aunt Norma and Aunt Adeline stayed up all night playing slots machines. They even outlasted me!

If my legs begin to ache during the race, I will draw on Aunt Norma - her warm laugh and sunny spirit - for inspiration.

Christopher:
I'm honored to be a part of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team because Cancer and Cancer research is near and dear to my heart. Five years ago I lost a friend and fellow trainer, Jason Heinz, to Hodgkins disease. Jason was 23, he was in great shape, great health, and had a bright future. A few years earlier breast cancer took the life of my best friend's mother Debra "Maria" Durst. Cancer doesn't discriminate, it can affect any and everyone. I'm running the Boston Marathon in memory of Jason, and Debra and for my client's Georgienne, Deborah, and Amy's sister Sue Umland who have bravely battled and are healthy and stronger everyday. We have all been touched by this insidious disease and I'm grateful to be running for an organization that is devoted to providing the best treatment available and doing some of the leading research in the fight to cure Cancer. Thank you so much for your help and support!

If you’ll be in Boston on April 19, 2010, please come cheer us on as we race towards the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer. We train and run with thousands of special people in mind and hope in our hearts. Dana-Farber is setting the pace in the race against cancer, and we’re grateful for your help.
