Please support my fundraising efforts for the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge!

Please join me in our critical efforts on behalf of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Every dollar the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge raises supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research, which funds the brightest, most creative scientists making basic research discoveries. Here are brief descriptions of selected projects supported by the Barr Program, illustrating some of the program's most significant impacts to date.

Thank you for your support! Together, we can bring Dana-Farber toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.

If you’ll be in Boston April 21, I hope you’ll watch the Boston Marathon and cheer for the hundreds of Dana-Farber runners! The DFMC team has been fundraising and training with thousands of special people in mind. On race day, we’ll carry thoughts of those people every step of the way. Thanks again for your support!

I had the privilege to run and complete the Boston Marathon in 2013 and I'm very happy to be back supporting the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team in 2014. As I train for and run the marathon on the 21st of April, I will be thinking of and honoring all those directly impacted by the terrible events that happened last year at the marathon. There are some very courageous people within the 4/15 Community that are helping each other to heal everyday and to be stronger...and I'm proud to call these people my friends - thank you for all your support!

I'm participating in the 2014 Boston Marathon to honor a great friend and colleague, Brad Standley. Brad is currently battling Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, or CML, a rare type of leukemia, which is a cancer of the blood. About 6,000 people per year in the US are diagnosed with CML. The National CML Society (NCMLS) is the only organization in the US that is solely dedicated to the support of CML patients and their families. In Brad’s case, the NCMLS invited Brad and Stacy (Brad's wife) to an in-depth workshop in Boston where he learned more about the disease and met the CML expert who was to become his doctor when he ran into complications, Jan Cerny, MD. For more about the organization please visit http://www.nationalcmlsociety.org/ - they are a fantastic organization and are the folks that originally connected me to Dana-Farber and the Boston Marathon.

My DFMC teammates and I are training for the Boston Marathon this year with thousands of special people in mind and hope in our hearts. On race day, thoughts of those special people will carry us to the finish line when the going gets tough. Thanks again for your support!
